Toronto Traffic
Toronto drivers lost about 100 hours to traffic in 2025, according to TomTom's annual index, the second-worst congestion in Canada behind Vancouver. It's actually an improvement. Back in 2023, Toronto was ranked the worst city for traffic in all of North America, so the numbers have eased slightly, even if it never feels that way from behind the wheel.
The reasons are the ones any driver here could guess. The city's roads haven't expanded in decades while its population keeps growing, and construction is consistently the biggest factor slowing things down. Rush hour is worse heading home than heading in, and a 10-kilometre drive that takes half an hour at 6 PM can take a third less time at noon.
