Toronto riders have more choices than Uber and Lyft. The city has more than 80,000 licensed rideshare drivers and an estimated 250,000 vehicle-for-hire trips a day. In 2025, a new ride app, Hopp, launched in the Greater Toronto Area. The more competition, the cheaper is the final price for riders.

Beck Taxi is a family-run Toronto company founded in 1967 by Jim Beck. Its cars are orange and green, colours he chose to stand out on the street, and it calls itself Toronto's largest taxi brokerage. Riders can book by phone, online or in the Beck app, and pay with cash, credit, or debit.

Poparide is a Canadian carpooling app built for city-to-city trips. Drivers post a trip, and passengers book a seat, with Toronto routes to Ottawa, Montreal, London, Hamilton and Kingston. The Poparide website currently shows examples of about $50 per seat from Toronto to Ottawa and $55 to Montreal. The company says it verifies every driver's licence and has more than 2 million users.

Hopp launched in the Greater Toronto Area in February 2025 and is owned by Bolt, an Estonian company. Riders book through the app the same way they would with other providers like Uber or Lyft. At launch, it said it took a 15 percent commission from drivers, which it called the lowest in the industry. In 2026, it added Hopp for Business across 17 GTA municipalities.
Uber has operated in Toronto since 2012, when the city became its first in Canada.
Lyft launched in Toronto in 2017 and also runs in other Canadian cities, including Ottawa, Vancouver and Montreal.
